This tangy oil has a clearing effect and so is particularly useful when recovering from general winter ills. It is very effective used in an oil burner or electric diffuser.

 

Rosmary- Rosmarinus Officinalis
Rosemary is the classic get up and go oil. Try adding 3 drops of Rosemary, 2 drops of Lemon and 1 drop of Peppermint to a tepid bath before an important occasion. Adding a few drops to the final rinsing water for dark hair can help keep a natural shine.

Lemongrass - Cymbopogon citratus
Like most lemon-scented oils, Lemongrass can be very refreshing. Try adding one drop each of Lemongrass, Lavender and Geranium to a bowl of warm water and soaking tired feet for 10 minutes. A few drops of Lemongrass and Cedarwood in an oil burner will help keep insects away during the summer months.

 

Tea Tree-Melaluca Alternifolia
Tea Tree is highly anti-septic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal. It is beyond measure as skin cleanser.

Anise Star
From the seed. A winter oil, useful when blended with other essential oils for chest rubs. It has a warm, spicy and liquourice aroma.

 

Bergamot Citrus aurantium
From the fruit peel. A most refreshing oil and one of the oils that has a deodorizing quality.

 

Cajeput - Melaleuca leucodendron
From the leaves. A refreshing and clearing oil, similar to Eucalyptus, is useful in inhalations.

 

Clary Sage-Salvia sclarea
From the leaves. This French Clary Sage oil (which is the best quality) has a profoundly heady and euphoric quality. It has a deep penetrating aroma, which is slightly nutty and musty.

 

Hyssop-hyssopus officinalis
From the leaves. Long known for its spiritual and meditive qualities. Not suitable to use for massage. It has a profoundly heady and euphoric quality.

 

Mandarin-Citrus nobilis
From the fruit peel. A good oil to blend with Frankincense or Lavender to help reduce stretch marks. An oil well liked in massage for children, which has a soothing calming effect.

 

Rose Absolute-Rosa centifolia)
From the petals. The ‘Otto’ is distilled from the damask rose and the ‘Absolute’ is solvent extracted from the cabbage rose. Both oils are associated for their qualities in skin care. They are an ingredients for the finest of perfumes and expensive skin care products.
